Post Mortem Foundations Course 2 - Post Mortem Fundamentals (Module 2/2)

Your role in the feedlot continues to play a vital part in protecting cattle health, identifying disease accurately and supporting strong veterinary decision making. Building on the foundations from Course 1, this module takes you deeper into the practical examination of major organs and body systems during a post mortem. This course focuses on detailed assessment of the head, lungs, heart, gastrointestinal tract, pelvic and abdominal organs, brain and joints. You will also learn how to correctly collect, preserve and send samples for laboratory testing to support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions.  By developing these skills, you strengthen the feedlot’s ability to detect disease early, understand underlying causes and continuously improve animal health and performance.

Completing this module will give you greater confidence and capability in performing detailed post mortem examinations and collecting high-quality diagnostic samples. These skills directly support accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, improved disease surveillance and stronger feedlot performance.
